DGMS 2026 in Leipzig

Dear Young Scientists,

The 57th annual meeting of the DGMS has officially wrapped up—and with it, our Young Scientists Evening (kindly sponsored by mzio)! We hope you all made it back home safely from Leipzig and have had a chance to recharge after those intense conference days.

A special thank you goes to Stefanie Wernisch, Christopher Rüger, and Ansgar Korf for joining our panel discussion—and, of course, to all of you who contributed with questions and thoughts. You turned the session into a lively and truly interactive event!

It was fantastic to see so many early-career researchers come together—not only to discuss ideas, challenges, and the occasional scientific frustration, but also to simply connect and enjoy the community.

Young Scientist business meeting

Of course, it wasn’t all fun and memes—we also held our annual business meeting and want to keep you in the loop:

New voting structure approved: Elections for Young Scientist speakers will now take place annually at the Fall Meeting.
Each year, two new speakers will be elected, allowing for a one-year overlap with experienced speakers—ensuring continuity and smoother transitions.
To make this shift possible, Wiebke Schultze and Joshua Kraft have agreed to extend their term by six months.

And here’s your reminder:

If you’d like to get involved and represent the Young Scientists community, this is your chance.

Fall Meeting 2026

We’re excited to announce that the Fall Meeting 2026 will take place in Kassel from 21.10 until the 23.10 !

As always, the Fall Meeting comes with a special opportunity:
You could win a featured talk at DGMS 2027 and represent the Young Scientists at the award session—just like Dana did this year!
