DGMS YS Evening Feedback

We want to hear your experience of the Young Scientist Evening at the DGMS in Leipzig!

The 57th DGMS just finished. We hope you had fun and some good discussions (and voice any complaints in the survey that was sent out)!

We know that the Young Scientist Evening was a bit chaotic, but we would like to hear some feedback from you, what you liked, how useful the event was and what we can improve for next year. Please take 5 mins and let us know, since we want to represent you with events that are useful to all of you! (also check out our highlights below, to refresh your memory!)

Highlights of the Young Scientist Evening!

This year we tried a different format for our career event and invited three people from different backgrounds to answer some questions about their careers. A huge thanks again to Christoph Rüger from Rostock University, Stefanie Wernisch from Bruker and Ansgar Korf from MZIO for their participation and interesting discussion. And thank you of course, for asking all those questions and comments making this career panel very interactive and even longer than we originally planned.

Of course, as for all our invited speakers, the panel members recieved the very rare Young Scientist mug. If you also want one, you will have the chance at this years Fall Meeting, as the best talk and poster prizes also include one of these mugs.

We also had the conclusion of our christmas special meme contest from last year with Wiebke Grimm receiving the certificate for best young scientist meme in 2025. Her meme is shown below. If you like this format and want it to return this year, please let us know!

Wiebke Günther will also be listed on our brand new Wall of Fame, that we launched after the DGMS, where all of our award winners will be commemorated.

We want to thank all of you again for attending this years Young Scientist Evening, already in its third edition! Its so great to see many junior reseachers come together, connect, exchange ideas and share the occasional frustration. Also a big thanks to MZIO for sponsoring the evening! If you have ideas of what you would like to see next year at the DGMS in Mannheim or who we should invite, please let us know!

We also included an early Easter Egg this year, with many of us wearing bird pun clothing. Have you noticed?
